hi everyone,

I'm modding a circuit to a bleep labs pal198x but I have some questions about integrated circuits. Basically, I want to create it from scratch (no pre-made PCB) and house it in an old enclosure with a ribbon controller. I know that the integrated circuit symbol on the schematic diagram means that I need an opamp (a 324AN) but I'm not sure which pins on the op amp get connected to which wires. Basically, I'm wondering what an integrated circuit really is and how to hook up the 324AN.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to include pics when I'm done.

Thanks again,
JD

PS: Here's the schematic:

welcome to electro-music !!

maybe this will help

https://www.google.co.uk/search?rlz=1T4ADFA_enGB464GB464&q=lm324+pinout&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=0TrxT8HvKKq50QWJkfTdDQ&biw=1680&bih=900&sei=0zrxT-nRCdOa0QXiiPzrDQ

for integrated circuits, you can google "<youric> pinout" and 999 times out of 1000 get what you need. as you can see the image matches the image in your schematic.

hope this helps

Hi Richard,

Thanks so much for your help. This may be a another beginner question, but on the schematic where the IC says +9v and ground, does this indicate that the V+ pin must be connected back to the battery and the opposite GND pin must be connected to the metal housing?

Thanks again,
John

yep +9v is back to the positive terminal on the battery

and

nope, GND is usually referring to the 0v of a power supply, so in te case of a 9v square battery it would be the "negative" terminal.

keep asking questions, its the best way to learn, also drop by the chat room for some more instant answers (when people are active in there)

Hi Richard,

Again, thank you so much for your insights. I can't wait to start experimenting with this project. I'll be sure to post some pics when I'm farther along.
