Everyone probably already knows this .. but .. I just got one of the last win7 computers still available, and wanted cool edit pro 2.1 to run on that one, which it initially would not .. well actually it would run but would not record or play ... it said it could not find "wmvcore2.dll".

Started with installing from the 2.0 CD, just as usual, then on running the program I got that error, then found this on the webs :

- Go to C:/windows/system32/
- copy the file "wmvcore.dll", paste it and rename the copied file to "wmvcore2.dll".

which worked for me .. and after executing the 2.0 to 2.1 upgrade it still worked.

This might work for older Adobe Audition stuff too I'd guess.

To get it running on win 8.1 needed some more trickery ... I copied and renamed the DLL as before but then it would say:

output device error : Undefined external error

I then just ran the win 8.1 compatibility wizzard .. that solved it Shocked Laughing

And now, out of the blue it says - f*ck you. It will not run anymore ...

"this system has not been configured correctly to run cooledit, please run setup again"

but it runs fine when I run it as administrator ... hmm.
