First post...I am not sure this is even possible...but here it goes.

Years ago I had a Rompler that supported Pedal Steel Pitch Bend Mode .

It would function like this:

Play a chord and hold keys down > all notes would bend.

Play a chord, press sustain pedal, release some keys, hold others > only keys held down would bend.

I do not have the patching expertise as the gurus here, so I am reaching out to see if anyone can shed some light?

Variation 1: See attached patch where the sustain pedal disables the bender for keys released.

Variation 2: Cheating the system for a single bendable note, so long as it is played AFTER the sustain pedal is pressed.

I am at a loss for modules to add to the poly section to detect only the held keys and retain bending without using the mono section cheat.

Any ideas?

I don't think this is possible to patch.

The gate output of the 'keyboard' module and the built in gates in envelopes are ganged to the sustain pedal. Played notes that are made to sustain through using the sustain pedal will keep on sustaining (outputting a logic high) even after you release the keys. So there is no way to know which keys are still physically held down and which have been released while the sustain pedal is still active.

Bollocks, it IS possible! Laughing

First the "Sustain Pedal" response in the patch settings has to be deactivated, in order to always know when notes are released on the keyboard.

Then, the now missing sustain pedal response has to be replaced by a DIY sustain pedal management circuit (which also has to deal appropriately with voice stealing, retriggering the envelopes when voices are instantly re-used).

This was less trivial then expected, and caused a bit of head-scratching -but I came up with a quite elegant solution.

Hey, this is actually a quite fun performance feature. Thanks for the idea. Smile

cheers,
t

I cannot wait to get home and give this a look and try it out...perhaps it can be combined with your mono / poly solution if there is enough DSP!
