Call for submissions for:

Amalgam: A multi-layered amalgamation of sound.

Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.

The idea for Amalgam was inspired by the accidental act of listening to two streaming broadcasts of ambient music at the same time. The two broadcast streams worked quite well together and gave a hint at what is possible when combining two or more unrelated musical sources.

Amalgam will be a long-form ambient/experimental recording comprised of multiple tracks of sound, each contributed by a different artist. Tracks will be layered so that two or more tracks will be audible at any point during the mix.

Please read the guidelines carefully:

Each track submitted will become an element of the collective mix, and will not be presented as an individual track.
The way your track sounds on the finished recording will depend on the other track(s) it is mixed with. If this bothers you, please don't submit.
Tracks can be of any length, tracks in excess of 20 minutes may not be used in their entirety, or may have their volume dialed down for part of the mix.
The ideal track should be minimal and sparse, with enough room to allow its mixture with another artist’s track.
Tracks do not have to be new work, and may be previously released, or may be used in your future releases.
Tracks submitted may be titled or untitled.
In the liner notes, each artist’s track will be credited with its beginning and ending time within the mix.
Amalgam will be released for free download through an existing netlabel or at Archive.org
Style of sounds: Almost anything will be accepted, but we’re aiming at the ambient, experimental, drone, noise and field recordings end of the musical spectrum.(But, don't let this hold you back--we're pretty flexible)
You must own the rights to any track you submit, and by submitting you agree to allow your track to become part of a long-form piece to be released under a Creative Commons license.
By submitting your track, you agree to allow your music/sounds to be mixed with other music/sounds in whatever way benefits the comprehensive mix.
All tracks should be sent to us through a file-sharing service such as WeTransfer.com or Dropbox.com using the address amalgamrecording@gmail.com for notification.
Do not send files by email.
Deadline for submissions is November 30, 2013.

Having participated in a number of latency jams here at electro-music, I like the concept of multi-layered sound you describe here. I will see if I can contribute some music for the project.
