Hi Guys,

I know a few of you are 13 pin users so I thought I would write a few words about the GP10: http://www.roland.co.uk/blog/new-boss-gp-10-guitar-processor

I didn't have much hope for this and purchased it really to get 6 channel audio into the computer as my StringPort never works and my RMC breakout box has pretty low output.

The 6 channel audio works very well over usb, I can run it at 32 buffer size with no problem and the levels are very good.

I always liked the idea of the VG99 but never thought it sounded very good and the midi conversion was pants, the GP10 seems to right these issues.

First the GP10 COSM guitars and amps sound far superior, a different league really.

The midi conversion is also much better than the VG99, the high 4 strings actually work very nearly as well as the FTP which is an amazing improvement, the E and A still suffer a bit though but the conversion is way better than any other roland converter I have tried.

The GR300 and Wave synths now work properly with piezo guitars, about time!

The Poly-FX stuff also sounds much better than the VG99.

I am really impressed with the GP10, it is basically half a VG99 which has been done properly. You don't get all the mad setup options that the VG99 has but who cares because it sounds so much better.

I highly recommend the GP10, and you don't hear me say that very often!

That one went right under my radar.

Better sounding is always good. The VG99 can sound very good IMO, depending on what you want from it, but it requires quite a bit of programming with careful tweaking and judicious use of all the EQ's (they' re everywhere in the VG99).

Is the PG 10 easy to work with? The UI does seem a bit minimal for as deep programming as the VG99 "requires". No FC300 interface either by the looks of it...

Thanks for the review! And you know it's well-designed and durable because it didn't break right away in Andy's hands. Wink

Great to know there's a viable option if my VG-99 ever breaks down and I can't get it repaired.

Wow that looks great! Nice to see that you can record/process each string on a different track in your DAW.

I'd like to know if the GP-10 can trigger iPad synth apps over USB MIDI. Some of the initial reaction from early adopters is that the GP-10 might not be able to do this?
