well, I'm not a complete newbie, as I've had this thing since '08. But although I'm a musician, when it comes to electronic music and all the gear stuff, I'm still pretty green.

Anyway, what I need is quite simple and I feel embarrassed for asking it but here we go. (And yes, I've tried googling for a while to find the answer.. couldn't find anything.)

I literally just need to make sound with my midi controller for the purposes of practicing a few pieces. That's it. Not making music, not producing, just need it to make sound. I have an m-audio 88. I used to connect it to Logic Pro 9 (I know, I'm completely living in the past) but now Logic won't recognize it, and I just need it to make a sound when I hit the keys.

What's the easiest way to go about this? Is there a free program online I can use? For some reason I haven't been able to get any clear results when looking this up. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most of these devices are simple plug and play. Play around with your MIDI settings on Logic Pro. Do some testing on your own. Worst case scenario is your midi controller is faulty but you still need to determine this first.

If you can't figure out how to connect a simple midi controller, I'm not sure how far you will go with this music thing. All the best!
