Andrew says: "I have a projector and some cables. If we got Steve Mokris to come again next year we could be mostly set".
Awesome, because I did talk to Steve, and he didn't seem to have any plans to stop coming!
A conversation on festival names. I like 'Northeastern Electro-Music" or "NEEM". Didn't the Indy one used to call itself 'MEME"? _________________ The most important gear is the brain behind the instrument. |

A slightly radical idea |
|
|
How about this...
Rather than putting a focus on individual performances, how about putting an emphasis on collaboration?
How about a track where attendees group up, compose sets and then perform them near the end? We could group people who are less experiences with people who are more experienced.
Make it more about learning and expanding and less about watching others play... a more interactive experience than an audience experience
I don't have a strong opinion on this...just trying to thing out of the box and try to differentiate from other events. _________________ Mike Hunter

Have read through the talk here. I would be very interested in such an event.
Where would I find more information? |

My idea for Electro-Music as a whole and could possibly help raise some funds for the site and/or festival. Has anyone ever thought about bringing the Electro-Music compilations into the digital age? For example, I use DistroKid for distributing my music to streaming sites and digital music stores. It only costs $25 per year and gives you unlimited uploads. I can post as many singles or EPs or albums as I want and it within a week of uploading it will be up on Spotify, Tidal, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, etc. With DistroKid, you keep 100% of your royalties. What if we uploaded every Electro-Music compilation CD to sites and used the royalties to go toward an EM fund for the site and stuff. Of course, we probably won't be rolling in the money but it may help raise a couple of bucks for site upkeep and whatnot. I would love to have the ability to stream the compilations and it could help bring the music to a bigger audience and keep these comps from disappearing. Also Bandcamp is another great outlet. With Bandcamp, you can set a price or even put a "name your own price" option. Bandcamp does take a percentage from every sale and PayPal gets cut. Again, these may help raise some money. We may need EMers to pull together and get a proper lossless rip of each compilation as well as cover art. Distrokid even has a label option that is $50 per month, but allows you post releases under different artist names. In case we ever wanted to make a little EM label. I would love to help with this if any of these ideas seem interesting to y'all. _________________ Download the latest releases

Attending the Northeast 2017 Festival |
|
|
How does someone buy tickets to the 2017 Greenkill festival?
I tried the "how to participate tab om the website and it is closed.
I don't see any other place to buy tickets or reserve a room.
I would love to attend, but if the door to that is closed, such is life.

Hey Dan!
I haven't seen anything here re: Greenkill, and the link for the other events is a dead end. Weird. We could meet in Alderfer park parking lot and do something using car stereos 'till the cops chase us?
Edit to add: it may be that the fest organizers have concentrated their efforts on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/38237692674/

That website is now out of date. It appears from recent (last few days) discussion on FB that it has moved to Homer, NY, between Binghamton & Syracuse. I happened upon that info. I can't go because of a schedule conflict. Contact Andrew or Robert Dorschel for more info. _________________ When the stream is deep

The Festival IS, FOR A FACT, now at Homer Center for the Arts on Sept 9-10 (Saturday & Sunday) due to issues and requirements from Greenkill at the last second, per Andrew.
Mainly, they told him we didn't have the numbers to maintain sleeping quarters on site for us, making the event there silly.
Combine that with costs and insurance, it became an unattractive location.
Andrew had been communicating with everyone by email or Facebook.
The primary contact point now is Facebook, but yes email still works.
Yes, the website is out of date, the pricing was just addressed by email and the rest will change in the next 24 hours (that's all Andrew).
We both have day jobs, doing what we can in the evenings, and I respond from work, Andrew can't.
Performers are now charged $57-58 thereabouts, but have to find their own lodging (most have already).
As of this writing we've gotten down to three open slots and that's it since it's been changed to a two-day schedule.
I did what I could to help Andrew lest he would cancel the whole sheebang.
But I scrambled and my contact at the Homer Center (the Exec Director) gave us a stellar cost discount, so I pushed for it to happen there.
It's right off of Rt 81, an hour or less north of Binghamton, NY.
Sorry for the silence on this forum, this has all happened in the space of 3-4 days while working full time.
Please check out the location, it's worth coming up.
If you can't perform, it is cheap to attend.
Otherwise please continue the conversation on the Facebook event page, or email Andrew directly.

Sorry for any confusion in the matter.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for pointing out that the website had fallen out of line with the most current information. That should be rectified now.
http://electromusicfestivals.org/northeastern-festival/
Tickets for the event will be available at the door, so if you would like to attend please join us at the Center for the Arts in Homer, NY.
You can e-mail me with any questions at andrew@electromusicfestivals.org |
