i've been playing around with an astable 555 circuit outputting to a 4040 IC for a few days now and I have yet to scratch the surface of what sounds can be made with these two IC families mixed together. Here's a (badly) made video of what i've discovered with these two. sit, relax, and enjoy a vertical video where you get to see me fumble with the camera. enjoy! https://photos.app.goo.gl/e1H3ypSH1eXA4s927

i'm really thinking of making a permanent version of this. It's just too much fun to disassemble.

That was a great variety of aural touring through the 'audio landscapes' with that!
I myself would definitely build a permanent version of that. The amount that can be played with for generating different happenings is wonderful!

For all of the push-button enabled functions, you could also use the CD4053 triple SPST switch to have them controlled from other digital sources.

Well done!
