realtime sequencer/ loopers, sampleDelay bug? Subject description: search for solutions |

I experimented a bit with the interesting multitrack loop sequencer from Palle Dahlstedt that is based on the Sample Delay modules.
See attached patch.
Problem 1.
Pallequenz 0.5
You see that i used pairs of Sample Delays? and that one has a one sample higher setting than the other?
This is the only way i can get it working running in sync when using a pair of sample delays.
As soon i isolate the 2 sample delays with a switch ( see Pallequenz 0.2b) or just use a single one it seems to work
Why is that? Is this a bug?
Problem 2.
Even in 96th clock mode the recorded line is one tick late.
With a 16 th clock the result gets quantized but many events are missing..
Playing 16th stakkato notes cant be recorded.
It would be necessary to run the sequencers faster and quantize the events at the inputs... pretty complex task. I wonder if anybody has worked in this direction already or has ideas about the most economic way to solve such problems.
I dont think a real life sequencer needs to be too cheap dsp and memory wise... When it allows me to create content on stage that frees my hands for other tasks its well worth an own slot...
It would be nice if the recording would be as accurate as possible and would also quantize events that are a bit late correctly...
Anybody has ideas what can be done to allow the sequencers to realize events that are played a bit after the clock tick?
I think it must be possible to shift the loop by additional clock ticks...
But quite demanding control logics would be needed.
Not my strongest point
I like to combine this patch somehow with the Realquenzer patch i did last year..
I had so many nice sequences just during the patching..it would be nice to have a separated store sequencer that makes use of the note sequencers and allows to record little parts out of longer sample delay sequences...
Maybe its better to work with the notesequencers anyway..but the sampledelay module is very flexible regarding the clockspeeds..
And can do up to 128 steps... temporarily...
Maybe a combination of booth technologys would give the best results.
The realquencer that uses note sequencers is here:

maybe sombody has an opinion what might be the better concept for realtime life looping...
Im an not sure myself yet.
The notesequencers allow to rerecord in the middle of the sequence in realtime..
the sampledelay is rather like a loop where all input is delayed by the length of the loop.
This brings a third question... is it maybe possible to navigate within such a sample delay loop by some kind of oversampling technic?
I think there is quite a few things possible with this module... But it feels like a bit too hard nut for me allone..
So..
any help or ideas very much appriciated...
