This was spotted in a local museum. The "nice" thing about this museum is that they think information about the pieces displayed is a very lowbrow thing.
That said, they have no idea about how stuff works or what they sound like.

Anyways, here is a pix of it.
I will try to add a zipped version of the full pix too. Tis was was shot at 1/20 a second or something like that. I am sorry it is a bit blurry.

Is it just me or do those knobs and the text layout look similar to some analogue Yamaha ones?

Could it be a early Yamaha prototype for something?

I really don´t think so.
The text on the panel is blurry but most europeans should be able to understand it.

Amazing - a trøndersk museum of electronic instruments? Shocked

Hmmm... the front panel legends seem to be in german and it's some kind of organ. Early Wersi or Bohm prototype? Nooo, to obvious. I bet it's something really obscure.

That very little piece of paper that says "Sønstevold" should have been a nice clue too though.

Gah! I though it read "Sonatevold" - I blame it on the blurry picture Very Happy
Cant' find a webpage with both "Subharchord" and "Sønstevold" on it. I found the Ringve Museum tough. That sounds very familiar - There is a high probablitiy that I've been there when I was a child. Now I'm desperately searching for an english description and sound examples of the Subharchord.

Looks and sounds more like a washing machine than a synth. I love it!

I think it's a Whirlpool. Front loader. When we first got it, I sat in front of it and listened to a whole wash cycle saying, "I am so gonna sample this, it sounds great!!" but I still haven't gotten around to it.
Are you into white goods?

Which method do you intend to use? External mics, infernal combustion mic? Watertight wireless bug secured to the inside of the lid? Combination of close mic and room mic? Shame I'm totally useless at mic placement and suchlike, but I should like to hear the finished results! Go for it, Uncle Krunkus!
Cool

The main problem is that since then the laundry is now across the house and down the stairs. I'd need a couple of long balanced mic leads (which I don't have)
The other option is to use my old Sharp Ghetto Blaster (circa 1978) which has stereo mics and auto levels and a sound all it's own. It would mean going to and from cassette tape, but I think that would suit the feel of washing machine sound. Besides, it gives me an excuse to resurrect obsolete technology. Best way to get a sound which is truly unique.
