Rythm-Delay as in TC Electronic's D-TWO Subject description: Is it possible, and if yes, how? |

P'tit lu all...
TC Electronic's D-TWO have an interesting delay feature called "Rhythm-Delay".
You must tap the tempo or sync via MIDI Clock, then, tap a Rhythm on a pedal or on the tap-button on the D-TWO.
This Rhythm pattern is recorded by a small memory, then each tap is a delay repeat that D-TWO use on audio signal.
It makes some really cool effects on percussive sounds.
I would like to do a emulation of its with my NMG2E, but I don't know if it's possible et if it is, how can I do that.
Please, do you have some ideas about it?
Thanks so much for helps. _________________ Sorry for my bad English. I'm French. |

Huh? say again?
Anyway, yes I too would be interested in this, though even if it 'worked'
it brings up so many issues regarding the bugs in the delay modules etc. |

Don't worry about it. Darwen know my name from another french website called Audiofanzine.com .
It was a private joke in French ...

Sorry, I'm not sure to understand (I'm not really good in english langage).
Would you say that delay modules are full of bugs?
At this day, I don't really work with those modules. So, I don't know wich bugs are feedbacked.
Is there any threads about its problems?
Anyway, on audiofanzine.com french website, we start to think about Rythm-delaying on G2.
But at this time, we don't find any solution. _________________ Sorry for my bad English. I'm French. |

Yes the delays are full of bugs there are many documented threads on this on the forum. Mostly dealing with sync (clicks & pops)
I dont have time right now to hunt down the thread links for you maybe later, though probably in the bugs section.....
But one can get by using them depending on your needs and requirements that is... Big controversy made many people mad. I like them except the sync & clicking issues....
Long story....

Let me chime in here shortly (coffee break at work): although jason is right that there are quite some issues with the delays, there is no problem whatsoever to use them for most garden-variety delay purposes.
For the specific question raised in this topic, I picture this patch: determine the maximum number of delays that will make up the delay-rythm; include these in the patch. Study the patches posted by Tim on this forum; if my memory serves me right he has included a properly scaled lfo (positive sawtooth with proper time-scaling) in several of his patches that can be used to measure an amount of time, and use its output value (with s/h module) to set the delay time input on the delay modules to the proper values. I'm fairly sure this is patchable, only the maximum amount of rythm steps will be quite limited due to the 2.7sec delay maximum on 1 dsp. _________________ Spinning at ~0.0000115740740741 Hz |
