A performance noodle
Using midi switching of variations. I can't get a slot to send variation changes (CC#70) to itself, but in a performance this is not so much an issue. You have complete control of which slots are assigned to what, so messages can be passed back and forth using the specific slot ID.

I've only used about 220% of the total 400% DSP available so there is a lot of room left for expansion.

My speech synthesis is also a little lame. I thought it would be much easier but I can't get rid of the Swedish/Klingon accent Wink Any tips from long time NM users?

Wonder what exactly you mean by 'performance noodle', am I supposed to press keys and or turn knobs ?

I think though the noodle aspect is large enough to let it speak for itself (anyway I don't even have a keyboard connected :-), quite good I think (although I must confess that some off the highs are too loud for my aging ears, but I like the way the piano is put into an environment)

When you want to know everything about how to do speech with the G2 you should get into the NM Classic patches done by Kees van der Maarel. He always built his own phoneme thingies, but I haven't seen any speaking G2 patches done by him yet. Just download the old 3.03 editor (PC only) from the Clavia site ( http:// www.clavia.se ) (I think it's still available) and then study some of the patches at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/011_Patches/Maarel_Kees_van_der/

look for : Akosua !!, Clavia !!, Coffee !!, Kees !!, Marc !!, Nord !!, Shit !!, Test !! and West !! - maybe there are some more but these I am reasonably sure about to be speech patches.

Jan.

Interesting noodle. I like this one. I recorded about three minutes and posting the mp3 here.

The title seem very appropriate for the music, it seems to me.

Cool trick changing the variations automatically.

It's a .prf2 rather than a .pch2

I know what you mean about 'performing' things like this to a bemused audience.

Thanks for the links, I have seen a little of KEYS stuff in the Nord Modular Book. It's been a while since I did the words patch, the idea was that each variation could be a different word (of up to 3 sub components) so it could be 'played' with the variation buttons.

Thanks for the comments.
