I was reading up on some material about the lack of linearity of the 8038 VCO chip, where they go a little bananas after 5V input, and I thought I would play around and make a circuit that could provide a little bit more customizable non-linear compensation than the usual methods (e.g. Dave Rossum's diode). And also perhaps for something usable for wind-synth control and general waveshaping.

(I haven't looked at Henry Thomas' book on this, so undoubtedly he has more elegant approaches!)

Comments and improvements welcome.

If you put other pots in between, you can get other shapes, but it seems the four pot one seems to cover a lot. (Actually, the two middle pots are often not so active too.)

Cheers
Rick
