Hi! After many many eons I finally got a track in decent shape to upload. I didn't say 'perfect'.

I just got a Korg Electribe MX1 from Craigslist & it's the greatest!! It actually provides that rhythm & backing pattern stability that I needed to make a coherent (sort of) track. I have been fooling with Reason but I was so distracted auditioning the wacked out sounds that I'd never get around to doing much arranging.

This track was done with my Electribe, Alesis Micron and good old Cubase LE. It's called "Misty" because that's what the weather was like. Actually it was cold & miserable & that's why i spent 5 hours recording instead of doing something useful. Wink

BTW, is there a page where you can view all your uploads & delete the old ones?

Laura

Yes ... through the Media link in the menu bar ... but not deleting things is preferred.

hi laura,

thanks for posting this. very nice composition and nice sounds! Very Happy

two things i noticed: there is some clipping/distortion and the ending is a bit abrupt, maybe do a fadeout?

to keep the mix from not clipping you could try to lower the volume of the individual tracks or use compressor/limiter plugins. there are a lot of nice and free ones available...

best regards

Thanks for giving it a listen! I'm really a beginner at this. I just set up a double keyboard stand with my Yamaha & Electribe and I am trying to get the basics of playing multiple instruments. It is very difficult to coordinate everything, find the right patches & keep the flow going!

Clipping schmipping, I loved it! I was transported to another place where all is joy and fun, so now I'm listening to it a second time. Laura, do you mind if I play your song on my electro-music radio show?

I think you have to be a member of Myspace and sign in?

I need to create a real web page. Geocities went out of business. Anyone know of a new FREE web server?

Hi Laura

If you mean a music host, http://bandcamp.com/ looks promising. I have just signed up myself, and I'm planning to create a home page for my music, but I might still use bandcamp for hosting my actual music tracks.

Nice track! Looking forwards to hearing more. Smile

Hi Laura,
Very good track. It has a nice laid back vibe, but also has a bit of a move-groove at the same time.

Sonic Cool

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I am uploading a new edit of the song. The track is called 'Misty Sun'. As I said I am really a newbie and am using Cubase LE. I don't think that has much in the way of 'final mastering'. Still so much to learn...

But you just uploaded the file (4.4MB) to the EM site didn't you? You don't need to be a member of myspace to listen to tracks which have been uploaded. Besides, I don't even get a login page. Just a dead link. I actually thought you might have deleted the upload or something. Confused

How come others can listen to it and not me? Sad

I just tried listening to my own upload of "Dark Army", and that gives me a "cannot display the webpage" error too! Shocked

Problem fixed.
.mp3 had become dis-associated somehow. Rolling Eyes

Hannah (3 yrs old) : "This music's cool!"
Andrew : "It was written by a lady in America called Laura"
Hannah : "I love Laura"
Andrew : "But you haven't even met Laura"
Hannah : "Yeah, but her name sounds like Dora! Laura,.... Dora" (The explorer)
pause
Hannah : "And she does cool music!"
Very Happy

Thanks! Crickets are my specialty.

My first & so far only album that I recorded is "Insect Summer of Love", an album of all cricket & cicada sounds. No electronic instruments, just insects.

It's especially nice to hear those sounds in the winter when everything is all cold & closed inside.

Hi Les,

Sure you can use them, that would be awesome! Send me a clip/llink.

Did you download the album? Why not write a review?

Anyone can use them...but there is a 'sermon' that goes along with them. "Put away the lawn chemicals/pesticides and spare the singing insects!"

I have never used herbicides & pesticides...I don't mow my lawn neat as a carpet either. It has lots of ragged edges... and I have the best Cricket music on the block!

Thanks for listening to my off-topic sermon. Laughing

Laura, I downloaded the album but I haven't listened to all of it yet. I'd like to use some crickets in the Charlie Brown song that I'm going to do soon. See the Lyrics thread in Schmooze for info on the album - maybe you would like to collaborate with us.

Hi Les,
I just saw this 8 months later!
I'm not sure what you're doing...can't find the post, but I'd love to collaborate with you! Tell me what you're doing.
