Hi all

I've discovered something weird with the clipper module last night...
If you check the attached patch you can hear a very simple clipped/distorted kickdrum sound.
But the clipper module is at 0%, why does this sound clipped? Is this a bug? (press the mute button on the clipper module to hear the difference!)

Interesting, I had a look at a sine->clip on a scope and the sine is fine. If I put an amp module before the clipper then you can see the clipping when the gain > 1 (with a clip level of zero).

I guess the Perc module produces a higher than unity signal. The clip module might be designed to work this way.

Hello,

I did a test... I've sampled the waveform and analized it in a wave-editor,
the waveform is clipped when the clipper module is at 0% but only the positive edge of the waveform is clipped,
the negative is fine?!

I've included the 2 waveforms as an attachment so you can check it yourself...
AE-Mute-OFF.wav = sampled with the mute module off (waveform sounds fine)
AE-Mute-ON.wav = sampled with mute module on, cliplevel is at 0%
(waveform is clipped, but only the positive edge)?!

any idea's ??

By default the clipper is in asymetric mode, cliping only positive signals. By clicking on the button labeled 'asym' you can set it into symetric mode, in which case the clipping will be symetric.

This is explained in the online help BTW, be it a bit cryptic maybe.
