this is an old project, and it still not finished. it is working, but a new controller board with VCAs to avoid a 'pop' when using not-squared waveforms is still on my to-do list.
here is the original thread:

i thought i could revive this old project. the breakdown filter is working and in use, however, i never finished the new controller board with VCAs instead of analog switches... nevertheless i will apply another new modification: an all filter input. this way i could use all 8 filters in parallel! guess what this voltage controlled filterbank could do! all i have to do is adding one socket to the frontpanel and one resistor to each VCF. the PCBs already provide a footprint for an additional audio input, i just forgot them, haha.

anyways, i started designing a new eurorack module with just 4 multimode filters, and with VCAs instead of the analog switches.
a 4017 controls 4 VCA in sequence. to avoid the pop a fixed lag adds some slope to the gates. one audio input is routed via the VCAs, another is going to all VCFs in parallel (4 filter resonator). the CV input is going to 4 attenuverters before hitting the cutoff controls of the VCFs. finally the filters outputs are summed.
here is a block diagram:

the schematic is already drawn. before i lay out the PCB i will try the functional blocks for a single VCF module - without the 4017 step sequencer, of course. this seq design is proven to be working fine.
this single VCF module will have a clock input that controls a VCA, making it a gated VCF. normally one would have the VCA right after the VCF, here it is upfront, hehe.
