Looks like the mystery behind Edcast may have something to do with AOL / Nullosft release of their own client the SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Winamp.

I just installed the DSP Plug-In and tested it out. Seems to work OK. Does everything Edcast did except for stream recording, and some more stuff I have not dug into. There is a WIKI for it here if you want to read more http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/Source_DSP_Plug-in

The download is available here at the bottom of the page: http://www.shoutcast.com/broadcast-tools

Thanks for digging up what could very well be the lowdown behind Ed's decision not to continue development of oddcast/edcast, Jack. (Will we ever know for sure?)

The built-in mixer panel in AOL's Shoutcast plug-in seems to be a convenient option--no need to open up the sound card's mixer separately.

Let us know if the ever implement an automatic record the outgoing stream feature (wav/mp3 choice). For me that is an important feature found in edcast and butt. I guess I'd rather have to open a separate soundcard mixer and have automatic recording than have to open up a separate recording program. I am sure I would probably forget to record at least once or twice.

Steve
