Here is the second batch of NanoStudio tracks that I made while commuting between Malmö and Copenhagen. These were originally mixed together and broadcast as a show, which you can find here.

These were pretty much played in chronological order, matching the order in which I'll post them here. The tracks were generally longer, several of them longer than three minutes.

sb101107_p1 kicked off the show somewhat hesitantly. sb101109_a1 is kind of mysterious. sb101110_a1 features a lead tune that was played manually - otherwise I tend to use the piano roll for editing a lot. I think that this kind of playing style fitted here

sb101115_a1 uses fairly unprocessed, clear oscillator sounds that I like. I find the naked oscillator works better in some synthesizers than others - NanoStudio's work well.

sb101115_p1 is a murky track with a beat that becomes more apparent as it moves along. I'm happy with that one.

I like the harmonica sound I found for sb101118_p1, and also at the end something that sounds like an old SoundTracker sample called "TineWave" that I had fun with back in the 80s.

I'm very happy with sb101119_a1, even though it sounds like it's missing a lead melody, bass and drums. I might add something to it just to feel normal, if I cared about such things.

sb101119_p1 starts with some simple lines of notes that weave into each, switch between minor and major key. Then I couldn't think of more stuff to weave in, so I changed it to a pop thing, then put the stuff at the start back in at the end. I want to do more stuff like at the start here, and keep it up for longer.

101122 seems like another morning suffering from train failure - two tracks totalling 5½ minutes.

I'm happy with the arrangement in sb101122_a1 - it feels like three or four people playing together.

sb101125_a1 feels like a buildup that stops before it has started - I had more of those in the first Commuter's Diary.

The first minute of sb101125_p1 was made "deaf" - i.e. I entered notes in the piano roll editor without hearing them or having previously tried them out on the keyboard. I do this exercize every now and then. It's a bit weird, but in the show mix it made for a nice buildup to...

sb101126_a1! Featuring the trademark Antimon bouncy happy sound. Wink Listening to it now, I feel the arrangement could be beefed up a lot, maybe I'll do some work on this sometime. I'm very happy with the opening riff.

Oh dear... I made three tracks in the evening of the 26th. Curse those bloody trains!

Sb101126_p1 features some experiments turning nicely into a wailing finale.

Sb101126_p2 was played all manually on the keyboard and pitch bend on the little iPod screen. My plan was to keep playing until I hit the first too-false note.

I cheated a bit with sb101129_h1 - the "h" stands for "home", meaning I didn't do it while commuting on trains. Embarassed Artist's license? It's another melody that I hope to do some more work on sometime.

sb101129_a1 features a kind of slightly off, doubled, rythmic whisteling sound that I absolutely love.

I'm very pleased with sb101202_a1. It starts like it's building up to a conclusion, slides into a section with drums using a high pass filter sweep, then goes into a dramatic bass section. Several parts that fit well together over 3½ minutes.

sb101203_p1 is the final Commuter's Diary 2 track. I remember doing a lot of work on the bass parts. Two square wave lines, sliding around on their portamento somewhere after the middle of the track, gave me a nice synergic surprise.
