I presented The Planetarium as a Musical Instrument as a demo + poster on Monday. The 60-minute demo session ran 90 minutes with a lot of discussion. I pronounce it a success. The slides are here.

Thanks, Jan! It's great fun to play this thing in a planetarium. I am going to spend part of the summer adding more geometries and scale variations, adding the ability to tunnel in and explore recursive geometries, along with automating more of the music generation by tying it more closely to more details of the game state.

I am considering creating a product where kids or adults could play geometric-to-musical games on domes using iPads and Android devices. Most planetarium presentations are canned video. I think the niche market is there, and it boils down to a question of development and supprt time. I like this idea.

Take care.

Dale

PS: It's come quite a ways from The Glass Bead Game discussion of a few years ago. Same thread, though.
