VCO - wave shape restart |
|
|
Hi guys.
I really don't know the difficulty of this this thing I want but Ill ask anyway.
Assuming I'm using a VCO and midi2cv...
Is it possible to play a waveform from the beginning of the waveform every time I hit a midi key?
Meaning, if I'm on a saw or ramp waveform, every time I hit a midi key the sound will start from the beginning/start of the saw/ramp?
Thanks for the help
cheers,

i just have this crazy idea.
maybe i can accomplish my idea using the sync in of the vco?
say connect a gate or EG to the sync in of the vco, will it manage to start from the peak of the waveform? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance |

That idea of using the gate is not so crazy, it is the way I do it on soft synths, like the G2. On a real analog there might still be a little glitch but that should not get past any envelope module after it. _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

A trigger pulse would be better than a gate - yes, it works fine via hard sync, but it may depend on your VCO design. I originally used a trigger via an attenuator and gradually increased it until I achieved reset - you don't want to suddenly put a 10 or 15v pulse where it shouldn't go
3 VCO's all starting in sync can sound pretty punchy _________________ Kronos 2-88, Kronos 61, Studiologic Sledge V2/SL, Broadwave ARP 2600EX, Broadwave 18U ARP based Eurorack Modular, Broadwave Minimoog Clone, GEM S2 Turbo.

Thank you for replying Andy.
I actually want to use your Odyssy VCO design.
My beloved VCO till now
So your saying to conect a trigger to the sync in of the ody but use a pot to trim it till it will reset?
A trigger I'll be using is no more then 5V, using a trigger from a midi to cv.
Do I still need to attanuate the trigger?
when thinking about it ...5V is enought to the ody Sync in?
Thanks Andy _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance |

I'm not at home for a while (on holiday), but if my memory serves me correct, I ended up with a simple transistor switch - Have a look at the Oddy's VCO 1 schematic... R132, R133, 2N3904 (sync out VCO1) - Duplicating that circuit should allow a 5v pulse into R132 to reset VCO2. _________________ Kronos 2-88, Kronos 61, Studiologic Sledge V2/SL, Broadwave ARP 2600EX, Broadwave 18U ARP based Eurorack Modular, Broadwave Minimoog Clone, GEM S2 Turbo.

I'm using the single board, not the dual.
But I have the dual on my comp so I will have a look.
Cheers and enjoy the holidays _________________ http://www.myspace.com/mgmtrance |
