Why, you put on a set of earplifiers, of course! A studio quality headphone with built in microphone pair and battery powered amplifier with volume pot. Like a dual hearing aid but in audiophile quality, this device enables the wearer to rock out without missing out!

Anyone want to work on such a product? Has it been done before?

Not sure if these exactly conform to your vision, but there's a fair bit of it, I think.

Not quite, elmegil, those are headphone amplifiers. I was imagining an integrated product that has studio quality mic, amp, and speaker for each ear.

Yes, yet in cases of LOUD listening, you cannot hear quiet noises. They need to be amplified.
