Casio SK-5 adapter/sample memory

I've been using the Casio SK-5 live for a couple years now. It actually does a pretty mean lo-fi mellotron impersonation!

The thing that's always bothered me is the need to use batteries to keep the samples in memory. My workaround has been to use rechargeable batteries and keep the samples I need on an iPod in case I have to swap them out and resample on the fly at a gig. Also, as the batteries lose their charge, the samples become even more lo-fi.

I'd like to mod it to keep the samples in memory while using a regular 9v adapter (instead of the stock 7.5v), so a replacement can be easily found while on tour.

I've searched around and seen some mods that folks have done to increase the memory, but four samples is really fine for my needs. Is it possible to just keep the samples from disappearing while using an adapter?

Here's what I have -the old sk-5 service manual.
I havent had a chance to really look into it yet, but I have done a LOT of sk-1 bending and have 2 sk-5's im going to get to after doing few hr-15s and I may be able to give you more info in about a week.
