I'm working on several of the Yusynth projects. Wow, thanks a ton. I can't believe how awesome and informative these things are to those of us just starting. THANK YOU!

1) On the Saw animator there are 12 100k resistors listed on the BOM. On the PCB I received from bride chamber the one nearest the edge of the PCB (R13?)is shown as a 10k on the PCB. Unfortunately, I can't read the circuit well enough yet to know which R# it really is. It's the one just to the right of CV1 and at the edge of the PCB. Anyhow, is that a typo on the PCB, or did that get turned into a 10K?

2)On the Dual Ring Modulator, I couldn't find 220 Ohm trimmers. Is something larger like a 250 or 500 ok?

Thanks for any help you can provide
Jeff

For the saw animator, http://yusynth.net/Modular/Commun/SAWANIM/sawanim-COMP-LAY2.jpg
i suppose it's 100k. On the schematic R13 is 100k, usually the typos are in the pcb layout, always refer to the schematic since it's the original... the others are adaptations from the schematic, and errors can happen

for the ring modulator 250 is fine

hmm ... closest trimmer I can find is 500 ohm. Is that to far out of range?

figured you'd say that Very Happy

No one seems to carry them in the US. The only ones in the 200->400 ohm range are the tripod kind. I have a bourns part number, but they don't seem to be carried by anyone.

Anyone know where you can get a 220 ohm trimmer in the US?

sorry to resurrect this topic, but I still can't find a 220 ohm trimmer anywhere. I've even tried contacting Bourns directly ... I can buy a lot of 1000 from them Razz

Anyone have a clue where to source a couple 220 ohm trimmers? I've tried 200 ohm, but can't get it to go anywhere near silent during the trimming process. Any help would be appreciated.

You may try using a 500 trimmer and use a 270 ohm resistor connected between the extreme legs of the trimmer, this way the circuit sees the good resistor value.

Otherwise I checked on the Mouser's site and there are some product references :
652-3296W-1-221ALF
652-3296W-1-221LF
652-3296Y-1-251LF
652-3296X-1-221LF

Thank you for the reply ...

From what I can see, those are the parts that I can order in quantities of > 1000. I had actually contacted Mouser directly, and they tried quite hard to find some for me. They were really helpful and even suggested I try Bourns through a "demo" program.

Anyhow, if I read your suggestion correctly, I can take 1 270ohm resistor and solder it to the two outside legs of the 500ohm pot? I think I have both of those parts handy.

Thanks again ... I've built quite a few of your modules! I can't thank you enough for your site and info.

Hi!
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the popular 200 ohm trimmers could replace the 220 ohm? I used them in my Ring Modulator and they do the trick.
Embarassed Ups, you wrote that you have tried it and it doesn't work. Sorry, I missed your previous post.

If not - I've done a little research - here you have a 250 ohm trimmer with a 1 piece minimum order quantity:
http://www.newark.com/bourns/3299w-1-251lf/trimmer-pot-250-ohm-10-25turn/dp/06X8985

Best regards,
Greg

Interesting. You used 200s in for this project? I can't get the signal to go even close to negated. Maybe there is something else wrong in my build.

I think you have another problem. 220 vs. 200 shouldn't cause an issue. The trimmers have a 10% tolerance anyway which means that a 220 ohm could actually be as low as 200.

Yes, I made this module a couple months ago as the one of first modules made by myself. I reduced it to the only one ring mod (AxB), then connected all parts on a common universal PCB using just the schematic diagram. As you can see, there is a 200R trimmer among its. I don't remember yet if I've got some problems with trimming it but it's working as is.
All my best,
Greg

I appreciate the information. I should mention that I am getting Ring action. I just have a lot of bleed. So that's why I thought it was a trimmer problem. But, I'll go back through and see if I have something else screwed up.
