Hi all.

I was wondering, could it be possible to make the same modules in max for live to control the G2? So that there would be no need for the G2 Editor anymore.

Not sure if you saw http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-48872.html (start at the end maybe instead of the beginning of that thread) ... different solution, same idea.

Ah .. M4L is max I see just now.

On the G2 all the patching functions, adding modules cables and so on, are only accesible through usb.

I'm not a m4L expert, but don't think you can build a usb interface in that.

I'v build a Vst one time that controls the open source editor through tcpip, so in principle, it could be controlled by osc commands also. But you would need to have an editor running.

Ok i see. but if say the editor program was on, maybe it would be possible to make max msp modules have them saved in ableton?

theres a way to link modules together in ableton now..

http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2014/02/10/dope-matrix-puts-a-modular-synthesizer-into-ableton-live/

would be super cool to make your environment in ableton, in your daw.

But it left a little bit to be desired.
You've gotta have one of the supported control interfaces... for one Smile

na, if its possible now to use 'patch' cables to connect ableton module and max patches in this manner then it could be possible to make a G2 environment, if you knew how.. without one of those 3 interfaces

that it "leaves something to be desired" is because the visual patching is abdicated to some sort of matrix style connections. It's likely that everything is connected to everything and pressing those buttons opens/closes virtual switches between them. So in a sense it's semimodular.

Max/M4L itself is actually a great place to do some modular experiments. In fact I believe there are or have been projects designed to mimic the Nord Modular "way" of synthesis.

One I've come across recently (although I can't say if it's "Nord-like") is called BEAP.
