a little experiment.

warning: volume starts soft but gets loud at about 2 minutes in.

So you "played" it by pouring in water? Pretty cool.

Could also be interesting to hookup something that plays the pan by tapping against it like a solenoid (like those Bastl modules).

Great idea, Pho. I can't get enough of this piezo electro-acoustic stuff. The beginning of the track made me think of the boats clanking around in the harbour of the town where I grew up. Then the sounds which presumably happened when you poured water in made me think of deep-frying fish & chips!

I think at one stage I tried to capture that sound when you strike a metal container (bowl or pan) containing water and move it around. Kind of doi-oi-oi-ing! Did I? Or did I just think about it? Hmm...

yes, I used a waterbottle with a pinhole in the bottom which worked as a dropper by squeezing it.

A solenoid would work and the pan creates a very nice sound if it has water in it and you tap it. But it would
probably be a bit loud and since I live in an appartment acoustic instruments are pretty much useless to me. Sad

The sounds at the begining (which sounds a bit like breathing) was from using a syringe to take water out of the pan.
And yes that doi-oi-oi-ing sound is great, it's what made me test it as I noticed I could create it with waterdroplets.
It didn't work as well as I hoped (maybe rubberbands wasn't the best idea) but produced some nice sounds.

Yeah I think it can be a bit of a trick to suspect an object without dampening it's resonance too much, even just attaching the piezo dampens a bit. I liked the very gentle (accidental?) clangs of the pan in the beginning. That was what made me think of the boats.
