Let me try some things (and please do not feel insulted by the stupidity of some of the items ;-) The obvious first - I think that you tried this - did you select a midi output device in MidiMod ? Under Options/Midi... In the Nord Modualr editor, under Synth/Settings you can assign midi channels to slots, did you check these settings ? What kind of midi channel numbering do you use, does your counting start with 1 being the first channel, or do you use 0 for that. You should use 1. Another thing I would like to know - try to make a MidiMod patch with a MidiIn module only. Leave its channel selector on channel 1. There is no need to stop MidiMod (when you move your mouse over the start/stop button the flyover help should say 'stop', the patch is running then). Ok now be sure that in the nordmodular editor you selected midi channel 1 for slot A, and that on the synth you selected slot A. Now press a key on the synth's keyboard, the Gate led on the MidiIn module in the MidiMod program should go on, and off again when you release the key. Now when you have a micro modular, the previous test was not very useful. In this case you will have to make a Nord modular patch with - lets say - a mixer module. In that patch assign one of the mixer knobs to a front panel knob, and also assign it to midi controller 2. Load this patch into the micro modular. Be sure that under Synth/Settings you selected midi channel 1 (I'm not sure whether this option exists though ...but the synth should be set to midi channel 1 in some way). Now load the test-1.slt MidiMod mod patch (it is attached) into the MidiMod program. Now when you turn the knob on the synth (the one that you assigned before), the scope should show your knob movements. The output led of the ControlIn module should flicker as well. You could try to use another midi program with the Modular Editor, for instance you could use the windows media player to play a midi file. If you do not have any midi files, you should be able to find some on the web. Just (double) click on the midi file, it should start a midi player. When you can't find any midi files, please let me know - I'll mail you one. When I read your mail correctly - you do have a connection between the Nord modular editor and the synth, but you do not get a connection between MidiMod and the synth. When this is the case I would like you to try to swap the cables. Use the PC midi connectors that you used for the Modular Editor sofar for the MidiMod connection (and the other way around for the other two midi connectors). In the Modualr editor and in MidiMidiMod you will have to swap the Midi assignments as well. Does this move the problem from MidiMod to the modular editor ? (as it should, in the case of a hardware failure) I hope this will get you a little further, but even when it doesn't please let me know - (I might learn something ...) Jan. In respons to : Ok, I'm sure I'm doing/not doing something obvious, but I can no longer get a MidiMod patch to have any effect on a Modular patch. The midi channels match, the controller numbers are properly assigned, I open MidiMod first, then the Modular patch, then I start the MidiMod patch--this doesn't work so I save and close both, then open both--no response. I've tried many permutations and combinations, to no avail. Could my midi interface be the problem? It all worked at first--but no longer. I don't think I changed anything. . . My interface (MOTU PC Midi Flyer) sends MidiMod info on output A and Nord in/out on in/out B. Help. B. [/Notes]
