Pich Bend via control pedal? |
 |
|
Hi,
I' ve had the Nord Modular NM1 for quite a while but never really missed the pitch bend wheel. All of a sudden I do and would ideally like to be able to connect a pedal to the pedal controller input and assign this in the patches to control pitch bend. But I can't really find a way how to do this. I don't know which parameter to assign to the control pedal.
I'd be thankful for any help with this!
Thanks,
Philip |

How about asigning it to a constant module? The constant would then get patched to all relevan pitch mod inputs which you'd open to the amount of semitones you want the bend to cover.
Alternately you could use a morphgroup asigned to all pitch parameters and asign the pedal to this.
That's asuming you use keyboard following on osc's and vcf's. If you don't then you might want to mix a constant (amped down) with the pitch output of the keyboard module. this would save you a modulation input here and there. _________________ Kassen |

I can't find the patch in the archive right now, but once Tommi Lindell made the lowest key of a Nord Modular Classic to act like a PitchBender; I think using Note Detection and a glide, so when ever he played that C the whole thing was pulled down a semi tone. The thing was he wanted to use his left hand to bend the tone, just as he was used to do on other keyboards.

Great, the contant module works for this! I still need to assign the pedal to a morph group to limit the bend range, but that OK.
One thing I'm a little unsure about though is what do I do with patches that already have other modulation sources connected to the pitch mod input on the oscillator(s)?
Thanks for the help!

Just add a mixer module, set one of the mixer inputs to attenuate the same amount as the modulation attenuater for the pitch mod had and then set that one fully open. You're then free to use another of the mixer inputs for pitch bend with it's own aatenuation control. That's what I usually do.
When the patch goes over 100% that way you'll have a litle problem of course, but usually a patch can be made more economic. _________________ Jan

Thanks for the explanation of using the mixer module to combine control signals and set their amounts for this purpose, BlueHell!
Once again, a great and helpful forum!
Thanks
