Aug 17, NYC Eyewash (a video jockey focused event)
w/ Doctor T. we did this in may (with Claire whom david beardsly is doing his looping thing with…she is wonderful). I’ll probably be doing another solo flute thing, but I might bring a ringer or two for fun.

Aug. 20 the lothars at the widow jane mine in Rosendale ny (upstate).
This should be interesting….playing in a cave. Also performing:
Loons In The Monastery- electo-acoustic ambient duo with an avant garde flair.
Thomas Workman- A one-man orchestra weilding unconventional instruments.
Clouds Crossing- synth accompanying baritone sax via electronics.
Simon Thrasher- will provide a mixture of found-sound tape montage
Carl Welden- performance artist (host and master of ceremonies)
Salix- will tweak some audio samples and loops
PLUS A DOOR-PRIZE RAFFLE!
TO BE HELD AT THE WIDOW JANE MINE IN ROSENDALE, NY.
SATURDAY AUGUST 20TH AT 7PM ----------ADMISSION $10
PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE CENTURY HOUSE HISTORICAL MUSEUM
DRESS WARM AND BRING FLASHLIGHTS.
FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CALL 845-658-3016
Sept. 18 the lothars as new England pagan pride
http://massippp.freeservers.com/
…although I fit the broad definition of pagan (my spirituality is based in nature), I don’t really identify as pagan in the organized sense…but I’m happy to help anyone celebrate who they are!
In addition, I’m very excited about an upcoming series of events. Ramona, doctor t, and myself have been looking for a good venue to do a monthly audio/visual ambient event in the boston area. A gallery director has offered us 3rd or 4th Saturday of the month for 6 months. We will be having guests as well (hopefully some from the em community). It will be interesting if, given this opportunity, we can build a following for such events (it’s really hard to do with the one offs).

Good luck on these gigs, Deknow.
I added the first date to the calendar. When that one passes, you can edit the post and change the calendar date to that of the next event. _________________ --Howard

Hey Dean, Michael here from Amaranth Signal. The Cave concert sounds cool-literally. Hope all is well and don't forget to post a review, I'm anxious to know how it goes. _________________ "Oh, it's yours? hi michael, great to hear from you!
since 1/2 the band is non acoustic anyways (theremins, no mic or pickup), i'm going to bring my wind controller, and something electronic for ramona in case the flute and dulcimer feedback too much in the cave (i can't even imagine what the problems might be, but i can imagine that they might be severe)! we've been practicing with the whole mix going through heavy reverbs to prepare.

I have a cd from a group from France, Lightwave, and they have done several cave installations. Very ethereal and chilling stuff. _________________ "Oh, it's yours? Then go ahead and kick the shit out of it..." as said to Michael Victor by Howard Moscovitz 06/05/05

there is a commercialy available binaural recording (stereo mic's mounted on someone's ears) with tony levin (i could listen to him jam with bill bruford for days at a time), a bansuri player, and a percussionist that is recorded in the cave we are playing in. from reading reviews, the recordist (on some of the pieces) walks around the cave while they are playing....it's supposed to be stunning on headphones.
we are planning to be there early enough to do some recording of our own, but i don't think it will be more sophisticated than a minidisc and a sony stereo mic....but the results from that setup sounds good in a regular room, so it should be fun (i usually record us direct, but that would be a big waste in this case). i'll post an update after it happens (and hopefully some clips).

Steve Gorn. He's amazing. I've heard him many times, but not this recording. |

michael,
...i hope you stuck around long enough to hear us play (although i could understand not doing so). i really wish i could have hung out, but i was dealing with disaster. one band showed up with so much gear......the smaller half of the duo was 2 dx7 keyboards and 4 8 space racks! in the end, their board was shocking them, and i had to tell them i couldn't have that board feeding into mine (this was more than 20 min. after they were supposed to start playing)...then we couldn't set up until they got all that stuff off the stage (i had to help carry racks around).
the venue is amazing, and i'm hoping to do something else there (without the "noise" artists)....something pretty.
