I posted this in the help forum as well. Sorry for the double down.

I just purchased the Novation remote zero SL.

I have a G2 Rack and am looking to use the Novation as a midi controller for my for my live sets.

Any advice on how to set it up?

I am good with the midi assigning within the NOrd editor, but I am at a loss with the Novation.

I mainly want re-set the midi mapping pre-sets on the Novation Remote SL, so I can easily assign parameters on my Nord G2 rack.

I basically just want the novation to be blank and allow me to decide which controller adjusts which parameter on my G2.

I got this controller because I don't want to have a laptop on stage. this controller is 50 light years ahead of my old school phat man

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks.[/b]

DL the novation remote editor software (from novation website), it works pretty much like the G2 editor - it lets u name and set the CC number of each dial / button...

In addition to the very good advice above, make sure you download and install the latest Firmware and Editor software updates from the Novation website. Some units that have been around for a while in wharehouses have very old firmware in them. You can check by going to the GLOBAL menu and seeing the revision that is diaplyed on your remote unit. It should be 4.xxx

OK, good news. It's very handy to have the LCD display tell you what each know or button is for, something I wish the Behringer BCR2000 had. My initial troubles with the Remote Zero SL was the fact that my operating system for the unit was very old, like 1.xxx old, and it gave me lots of trouble when remotely controlling Abelton LIVE 7.x. Now it's all good !!

Have fun !

I figured out how to edit the CC on the Remote editor software. Now how do I get my template into the actual Novation Remote Zero SL?

If I can just get my template to work, than I can assign everything in my G2 engine.

I know the Remote states that patches 35 and 36 have no pre-set templates. Shouldn't I also be able to change the CC map on any template?

Also I have the latest version OS in the REmote.

thanks you... Confused

First you must go to the GLOBAL menu, PAGE 2 and set the memory protect to OFF if you want to save your new template. Dial in your template number you want to overwrite. Then follow the direction in the editor software manual to dump the new template to the remote SL. Once in your remote SL you need to use the WRITE feature to save the template.

Yes you can change any of the "standard templates". Although Novation has pre-assigned templates 1 through 33 with some of the most popular VSTi's, you can go ahead and reassign any of them to satisfy any requirements you wish for. If you wish to get back any of those originals that Novation has assigned to them,, you can simply Sys-Ex those template back to the remote SL unit via MIDI-OX of the template editor. These templates come packaged with your OS download.

Of course you can't change what are called SEQUENCER templates which are designed to communicate directly with a particular sequencer. For me, I use template 40 for Ableton LIVE. Pro Tools guys would use template 34. Template 38 is the Universal Automap (UA) template and works with the UA Server software running simultaneously with this special template. When in a sequencer template, you can jump over to the UA template and load a VSTi that has been associated with the UA server and the remote SL controls will automap to the selected instrument.

OK, good ..........

I hope these guidelines help. It takes a while to get use to this unit and the manuals are not the best so you will need to play.

Good luck Wink
