Hi Guys,

I have aTLA Fatman tube preamp/compressor/EQ that I really love but it is no good for overdriven tube sounds.

I am looking for something to place before this to get a bit of overdrive, any recommendations?

I don't mind if it is rack mount.

Cheers

Andy

I don't really have the experience to recommend anything, but people speak highly of these, and they're sensibly priced. I recently got a tube head where the preamp is based on those so I know it can do real sweet tube overdrive. And it's british too, in case you care Smile

Ah, yes I read about these in Sound On Sound magazine.

I just found the article and had a re-read and they loved em so I have ordered the HT-Dual http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/products/ht/htdual.html

Cheers

Well it has arrived, very sturdy piece of kit and looks very well made.

Unfortunately I have taken a very sharp knife to one of my fingers on my left hand so it looks like I will not be playing the guitar for a while.

I am hoping it doesn't need stitches!

Andy, are you accident prone like myself? Hope you get well soon, and that you can get back to bothering the neighbours, which is the God given duty of any guitarist!

Accident prone is right, I broke off two of my fingerpicking fingernails the other day and thought that was bad enough!

I was actually sharpening the knife when I cut myself. Embarassed

I have had a little play, it sounds quite good. Cannot really play that much as it is the barre finger, whatever that ones called that is cut and if I move it much the wound opens up.

It's the new trend it seems. Got me a Digitech pedal thingie here, no power switch - Aaargh! I'll have to route/drill the metal chassis and install one myself...

May your fingers heal in a jiffy, Andy!
