WSG seems to work fine, but doesn't give that pulse gap |
 |
|
| So my WSG works and everything, although it seems like it does.... but when i watch other youtube videos of WSG's everyones seems much more rythmic and musical, and they all have the pulsing gap tones, and mine never does that, mine only has constant wave tones.... any ideas on what can cause this? also, my unusual toggle (s7) doesnt seem to do much... can this somehow be the cause? Thanks for any future help! |

Hi there !
Sounds like there's something wrong with the lfo's. On the WSG that's called
the "Zany" section, if i'm not mistaken. they modulate the basic tone, which
is the rithmic effect.
The "unusual" switch affects this same "zany" thing (basicly rounds off
the modulating square wave edges, making it smoother), so...no zany,
no unusual, that's correct.
also, to be able to hear the rithmic effect, be sure to turn the "zany amount" pot all the way, and the "zany frequency" pot about half way way. if you
turn it all the way, the modulation is so fast, that the result is again a static
tone (with a different timbre).
if it's really not working, check the zany sections on the board. that's pin 5 and 6 on the 40106 for voice A, and 8 and 9 for voice B.
Hope this helps. really tired over here, so i hop i'm making some sense.
Good luck ! |

Thank you very very much!! The WSG works great... its sounds so awesome and is so much fun
The problem was that I etched a WSG myself, top and bottom, and 2 of the points on the top side of the board, where the 40106 goes, where not touching the pins on the 40106... |

That's great ! I'm glad you were able to fix it !
double sided etching...well, i never dared to try that, lol. it has
to be so precise, i'm pretty sure i'd screw it up,haha.
I etched mine single sided, with a couple of extra pads and ran some
wires. works great to, especially with the wsg, cause there aren't that
many traces on the top side.
It sure is an awesome little machine. I made 2 so far, one standard version
and one with extra filter modulation capabilities.
Have fun with your wsg !
