I know I may be dumb, but then I ask anyhow...
what if I change the 1% resistor with 5%?

Maths tell me that I'm adding tolerance to the resisting force, but the real
question is: has anyone tried and checked the results? did your PCB set
on fire? did you hear voices from the "other side"? Very Happy

if anyone knows.. tell me! Very Happy

A more tolerant Alex Smile

In general, the precentage used on resistors tells you the manufacturers testing tollerence. For example a 1% 10000 ohm resistor would be expected to have values of between 9900 and 10100 ohms. A 5% resistor would be between 9500 and 10500 ohms. Your circuits will not catch fire. For accurate tracking, symetrical waveforms, and precise filters, designers prescribe resistors of tight tolerances.

If you have a multi-meter, you can check the resistance of the component in question (ie- your 5% resistor) and see how close it is. Many parts today that are "5%" are really pretty darn close.

I omitted to say that I've tested many of my resistors (various values) and
most of them are at max 0.5%...
Ok, since I have already the 5% values in place of the 1%, I'll start
using them. I'll get a random-acting cartonbox then Very Happy Very Happy

Well, if you measure it to be within %1 then it is 1% even if it is rated at 5% or 10%.
