Hello, musical world |
 |
|
Hi!
My name's Andy, I'm a student at Leeds uni and I'm looking for a female, 18-20, GSOH...
...oh shit, that was written in the wrong form!
*ahem*
Yeah, so I'm heavily into electronica. It started with Aphex Twin (I now own what is potentially Leeds Uni's biggest Richard D. James collections), which got me on to Autechre, which got me (somehow) to Boards of Canada and then (somehow, again) into Underworld (man, I love underworld!)...
Recently (very!), I started listening to Drum and Bass, and I'm very much into it now, and I'm starting to learn the ropes on producing electronic music. I hope to produce DnB with my mate Ed, and on my own to produce some techno/ambient/IDM similar to RDJ/BoC...
Anyway, I just thought I'd say hi and explain that I know nothing (well, now I know a little bit) about music production, so if I ask any silly questions I apologise now!
Oooh, it's all very exciting!
Cheers, A
p.s. today I learned what a 303 was! |

...OK, so I gave up on the darkstep/techstep idea, just for a little while, until I've got more experience. My earliest knob-twiddling event is here:

Yes I know it's shit but I did it in two hours on a sunday evening... |

I think you could use some reverb, and echo.
The idea is pretty good, I would use more dynamics and some wetness.
But that's just me.

Cheers, yeah, I was thinking of reworking it, possibly extending it with a liquid DnB theme. i'll get on it after the exams.
What do you mean by wetness though? |

"Wet" generally means effects, but more specifically reverberation. We talk about "wet/dry" ratios when we're mixing effects into a production. I would hazard a guess that you will come across this term in various contexts within these forums.
Liquid DnB would definitely want some reverb... _________________ Garret: It's so retro.
