Anyone recognize this Nord Lead preset? |

Does anyone recognize the preset used for this cool rubbery sounding arpeggio in the clip? I was told it was done on a Nord Rack. http://www.speedyshare.com/115832278.html |

The pattern (it's not an arpeggio) is surely done with a sequencer. The sound itself can be obtained by any synth.

I have tried recreating the sound with the Albino softsynth but haven't gotten very close. Here is my try: http://www.speedyshare.com/735509577.html
how do you make it sound rubbery like in the example? |

without even listening to the sound, if you want "rubbery", which I interpret to be highly resonant with Fc modulated, the wetter twangier sounds are made with higher filter slopes and a low pass filter. Although a bandpass can do it you lose the bottom and it's usually associated with lower frequencies so you can hear the filter being excited.
So a low pass 24dB with a fair amount of Q, and a fairly aggressive Fc modulated by an ADSR envelope (not AR) with a short-ish attack, fairly aggressive initial decay, medium sustain and say 1/4 to 1/2 second release, would make a pretty twangy sound. You'd need to adjust Fc for taste.
Oh yeah, for a wave form, you need lots of harmonics usually for the filter to work on them. Saws work real well as they have the most harmonics (the most you can get, in fact).
Although, you can use a low narrow pulse and get some real odd sounds out of a filter with the Q turned up...
OK I just listened to the original. The VCO is being modulated by an EG as well, but the rest is about what I thought, it sounds like a filter being opened with some fairly aggressive Q. Not sure if that's a 24dB filter though. Probably not.
If you're on a Nord you can switch between 12 and 24 to work out which sounds best. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

EdisonRex's comments about rubbery sounds are good, if you want a sound that is like a streached rubber band being plucked (Which is what I would call rubbery).
The sound from the sample though is just a short, open vcf detuned saw. The 'rubberyness' comes from the short glide on some, but not all notes. |

Thanks for all your tips.
I have tried it again and I think I got a little closer.

Any tips on how to get it to sound more like the original clip? |

That's bloody good. The rest is probably post production. A little chorus and a subtle beat synced delay? |

Can you post the sysex here?
mp3 is nice, but in fact it has nothing to do the NordLead itself.
We all want to learn

Too bad...
The *.FXP doesn't work for me.
Any chance you can get hold of the NordLead sysex file by catching the 'Dump One' send by the synth itself? [Shift+OctaveShiftUp]
I assume you're working on a Linux machine?
Does it provide a graphical interface to the NordLead, so you can study the settings of the parameters?

Try loading the FXP from Albino's own GUI instead of your sequencer.
I don't have any sysex file as I do not own a Nord Lead synth. I programmed the sound in Albino using the advice of other posters. I originally posted the question in this section because I knew the original sound was created on a Nord Lead. I have a software synth plugin that claims to be a Nord Lead clone (DiscoDSP Discovery) and can import Nord Lead sysex files. |

Ahh...
I know this DiscoDSPdiscovery clone. I have it somewhere on my computer as a gift from those nice Spaniards, because they delivered all my on the net published patches with the package, so they were making money with my work
There's one thing I can tell you, and that's the clone will never do the same thing as the Leads. You have to know Clavia a bit for that... A simple sound as your question will go alright, but more complex ones won't work the same, just because of the BUGS!!! That Discovery thing is to well designed
Anyway, my computer will always stay a tool, not a musical instrument.
