Hello!

I got a Nordm. G2, how can I convert the old patches from NM1 to NM2?
I installed Python 2.5.1 on my mac, and g2ools.
After i launched the terminalwindow by clicking on nm2g2.py and i don't know how to convert the old patches.
How can help me?
Many thanks, Winlan

Keep in mind- the converter is not perfect yet. All the patches may not be converted, and the ones that are may/may not sound like what you expect, and that you *may* need to edit the converted patches by hand to get the desired results. At the moment, I can only remember that some vocoder patches didn't convert correctly, but there may be others.
Still, it's better than doing by hand

I came across a wonderful NM1 patch for a cello by Per(e?) Villez. Has anybody translated this incredible instrument for the G2?. If yes, would you be happy to share it? I have played with many simulations of bowed stringed instruments, yet this one is pure excellence,Surely this is a classic?. The designer is a crafts...man..woman?! Helpp?.

You mean Per Vilez' FoF-project? These NM Classic Patches are converted and filed under [Vilez_Per] in the Converted Archive. If you can't find it I'll help you searching.

Oops, found it already.
I'll send it to you in a zip file, otherwise the Patch will be archived under my name and it isn't mine Smile

BTW here is a picture of Per Smile

Per is indeed a very good programmer of sounds.

I wonder if the G2 Patch works as good as the NM Classic one...

Hello everybody,
I'm new to this forum and recently got a NMG2.
Before I used a Micro Modular, and I have about 15 patches wich I really like and want to transfer them to the G2.
But I am really overstrained by getting the g2ools to work. Python, typing commands lines thats too much for me, specially in this time when I'm new to the G2 and have to check it out.
So my question here is, if somebody with a running g2ools application can be so kind and do the converting for me. The patches are rather simple, nothing special (no vocoders).
I would offer 20euro for the extra amount of work.
Thanks a lot.

Welcome to the forum.

If you can't find any help using Python or with the conversion (the G2 community isn't that big), I suggest to plug-in the Micro into the Input of the G2.

Wout

It’s the patches from the artists Rasko and Navs, which are maybe also interesting for the G2 User archive.

I’m traveling in Spain without a computer, or I’d do it for you (for free).
You’ll need to use an older version of Python to run with g200ls, you need 2.5.
Other people have reported problems with later versions.
Most new computers are using Python 3.x, which is totally incompatible with G2ools.

If you can find a computer with python 2.5, just type
python g2ools.py patchfile.pch
(Going from memory). If I had my Mac I could figure it out easily.

Since I won’t be back from vacation for several weeks, I’d recommend that you post a message in the G2 forums on Facebook. I’m sure some can help you there. (I monitor that forum, but don’t have access to my python installation)

Regarding Python I can only quote FZ: My Python-boots are too tight, I couldn’t get it off last night, a week went by and now it‘s (nearly) July... and I got stinkfoot. Meaning I can’t manage this.

Thank you Cappy, I‘ll try the Facebook way. Have nice holidays in Spain (would like to be there too!)
