Yo electro-music,
i go by spiz and am a jungalist drummer in chicago, IL. I have
two live jungle/freeform dnb bands:

www.spizm.com (2-piece drumset/electronics & upright/electrik basses)
www.trioizm.com (3-piece sax/bass/drum - live modern jazz breakbeat)

I'm looking for other musicians that spin, listen to, a/o actually play
the style DrumNbass or jungle or idm. I feel that there is a potential
for a live techno movement building right now in the states.

TrioiZm_kbop.mp3 is way kool! THat drumming reminded me a bit of Guy Evans.

and general feel...especially lookout. is that live drums or
programmed (1/2 and 1/2)? spizm and sudden should play shows
together, if possible...it would be a great mix!

btw..
1/2 acoustic drums and half breakbeats...

sometimes our drummer plays the breaknbeats on his pads..but uusually they run off the roland 1680 in sync

Hey, Spiz, welcome to electro-music.com. welcome

Your tracks really cook. Great stuff. I like it, and I generally don't care for D&B; I usually find it boring. You are a great drummer. I'm impressed...

salut well-done

Wow - very nice drumming. If you were a bit closer (I'm down around Peoria, IL) I'd suggest jamming. I've done some faster, closer to dnb stuff in the past. Finding a drummer hip to that sort of thing is a bit tough and mine moved to Chicago... I'd jam on bass or trumpet over top his drumming.

Good stuff. Thanks for pointing out your tracks.

John

I don't care from DnB, but this is great. It moves and goes somewhere. Great work.

Yes.. this is great stuff.. it is music. Too much of what is labelled dNb is just loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops loops

elektro80,
i totally agree with you bro. the thing is that dnb closely resembles
funk, jazz, hiphop, rock, punk, and hardcore, to name a few...and for
that reason, it makes it ideal to fuse with other styles.

forgive me if i'm making a jump in statements, but i never really cared
too much for dnb, because of its monotonous characteristics. BUT
I've always dug select IDM (squarepusher, amon tobin, aphex twin,
meatbeat manifesto), and breakbeaters like dj shadow that took this
sound (the fast paced drums, noisy sweeping bass, and tweeked sounds
and samples) and fucked with it.

as a jazzhead on drums, i feel comfortable in saying that i believe this
is a new extention of jazz, and there are infinite numbers of possibilities
with it.

I second that!
I love d'n'b dearly but at times it becomes... Well...

Anyway, music is nice. Cool
I listened to spizmdemo.mp3 and it was very punk/ska. [mcdonalds]I'm lovin' it![/mcdonalds]

Welcome! Very Happy

That's Chicago!? I lived close enough a while back to barely remember that city. Anyways...

Your drumming is a melody of it's own. I love it. Very Happy

I should perhaps mention that I have nothing against loops. And some of the dNb with lotsa loops often displays a very clever use of loops. The formula however can become a bit.. well. too much.. in the sense that the purpose seesm to be.."filling up yet another CD ASAP".. And it is nothing worng with doing that either.. but frankly.. way too much dNb is just more of the same. I really enjoyed dNb way back.. when it was fresh.. and I see nothing which really shold prevent dNb to still be fresh and entertaining.. uhh.. one thing though.. "the industry"--

what about..."the industry"? the music industry? all they care about
is if something has a market or demand...and then they'll invest in
order to make a profit. is that what you mean?

Well.. yes.. Too bad that effort.. putting things on the market.. too often equates to making "more of the same" .

yeah i agree, drumNbass was greata when it was fresh especially in the uk the beats were original and outrageously catchy. I especially loved and still do, the darker less dance oriented stuff. But now with drum and bass and especially house and techno, it is all about that quick buck-instead of people pressing there own beats on vinyl (*or cd), thinking outside of- "this record by dj ss is tight, i want to spin it" for example; you know?. Drum and Bass is basically running out of beats because no one is making anything new. That is why i am looking forward to playing with spiz and the gang; especially after such good feed back by everyone on this forum sect. I can't wait to hear it. I can't wait to hear something fresh that gives me hope that not everyone is stuck on everyone else's beat cutz- m.e.s.s.
