I know there are already allot of post about using the G2 as a filterbank, but couldn't find anything about the possibility to create a Sherman filterbank with the G2. I was wondering if it's possible to do it.

Hi DNME,

Roland Kuit made a filterbank-patch,
don't know how close this comes to the real thing

difficult goal.. the sherman filter has a really sick sound ...it dont even trys to be a mathematical correct filter and is therefore probably more difficult to emulate than a moog filter... you would need to much dsp for something you can have for a few hundred coins in real..

main thing about the sherman is its internal distortion..is rather a distortion pedal with modulated filters than a filter as you know it..people use it for its overtones... it would be a hard challenge to catch some of this digitally...

i dont have a sherman anymore..but when i come along one for a good rate i will grab it again.. its a recommendable fx unit...

You're right about the filterbank. It's got that sick sound, I used it once to make a Hardcore Kick routing a Tr 909 trough it. Don't have one myself, but might get one too one of these days.

Was just wondering if anything comes close using the G2 to gain & distort a real 909. I Am working on a patch to gain / distort / filter / eq a 909 kick drum, but it's hard to get rid of that digital sound Wink and since I am new using the G2 it will take a while before I understand the smartest way to route everything.

You could use the filters on the G2 and route the signal through a stomp box for the distortion (or vice versa). With the 4 inputs and 4 outputs on the G2 you could even make several passes through external devices (assuming a mono signal) as part of the same patch.

put eq's around the distortion module (before and after), this really beefs up the OD module.

Yeah did that and also some filters and I got close to the sound I want, but it still needs more work. When I've my "first" patch done I'll post it Smile
