Heja Malmö! |

Hi,
The Nord Modular mailing list brought me here and I thought that this community seems like a nice one to join. So this is me saying hi!
I make music under the name "Lo-Fi Massahkah" (this is to be interpreted in any way you'd like - or not at all!). I'd like my music to be progressive and experimental - but I guess that is for others to say - and I'm a sucker for melody. I know nothing of writing music and I get told that my music sounds like experimenting 'til I find something that works. And that's exactly how I do it - I play and listen, play some more and sometimes keep what I get.
The centerpiece of my project studio would be my Nord Modular G2 (if I'm not counting the computer onto which I record it all) and apart from that, most things happen in software.
Well, nice to meet you all! Please check out my new site lofimassahkah.net if you have the time.
Cheers,
Mikael _________________ Electronic Music Tutorials Designed for Learning |

to electro-music.com, Lo-Fi. Glad to have you here.
I went you your site. Very nice. Your music sounds fine on my little Apple laptop. Fidelity is not great on this, of course.
I assume the site is built with Flash. Are you a flash programmer? |

Hi Mosc,
Thanks for those kind words!
Well, the site is Flash - yes... But am I a Flash programmer - hmmm... Until I made this site, I hadn't programmed anything since my Amiga 500 days. But it has been fun, maybe it'll get me started again.
ps. By the way, I used to be an exchange student in Ashland, PA (North Schuylkill HS) back in 1990-91. We were almost neighbours...! _________________ Electronic Music Tutorials Designed for Learning |

this i like. vintage, glitchy computer tones. danceable, but still heavy and dense sounding. i like the poppy stuff too. (old) soft cell, matthew dear, tracy and the plastics... come to mind. this is indicative of what's happing in brooklyn, ny right now. but from sweden?! hey i have family outside of stockholm. small world. i thought you guys just exported death metal! come to the states and play if you can.
also, nice web design. there really is a certain look to most electronic artist's packaging and this breaks the mold. |

Thank you! Maybe Malmö and Brooklyn aren't that far apart...
Seems, like here's a bunch of people from PA. How come? Large electronic scene? _________________ Electronic Music Tutorials Designed for Learning |

philadelphia especially: the gatherings series. rotunda shows. R5 shows. silk city. la tazza. although i'm fairly new to playing there, i can already tell there's a good scene for all types of electronic music. always evolving.
i've heard some people are surfacing in allentown/lehigh valley and doing some experimental music. but there's not many venues/clubs to hear it. all ages shows, mostly. i'll start a thread directed at pa. |

Well. I started this site and I'm from PA, but to be honest, I only personally invited about 3 other people to participate, mostly to help me debug the software. (Now we have almost 600 people to help me debug the software ).
I don't think the scene here is all that much more active here than in other places, and we aren't a local site either for that matter. I have never even met David, AKA GSGA.
It remains a mystery...
