Would you like to see a confirmation message for the New and Init buttons?
Yes, it's essential

The New and Init buttons are located close to the various module group selectors, and are easy to click accidentally. When this happens, the entire patch is erased with no warning. Doubleplusungood!

The changes I'd like to see to this are:

- Add a confirmation message box ("Are you sure?") to all of these operations. If possible, it would be nice if this only appeared if the existing patch were dirty (ie edited and unsaved), but this is not necessary if that is not practical.

- In addition to, or instead of the above, remove these buttons from the front panel and have them only appear in the File menu. As a general rule, UI designers agree that front panel buttons should only be used for commonly used functions, or functions that require quick access. These features are not typically used much in a sesion, so they do not require quick access.

Funny. I never even noticed this before, but I tried it out after saving tha patch I was working on. I see what you mean, these are patch killing buttons. I didn't even know about the init1 and init2 things. I had them confiused with the init variation. These three button have no reason to be on the front panel, IMHO.

Funny indeed.

I configured the buttons and use them every time I set up a new patch or performance. I don't care too much about accidentily clicking them as I constantly use CTRL+S anyway (using the computer for primary patch storage, only when finished they might go into the synth).

I'd only like the new button to create a new performance when in performance mode. The init buttons should initialize a performance then from a saved template.

Also just a HO of course.

Jan.
