Hello everyone |
 |
|
Salud!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Carlos, from Madrid, Spain, 32 yo (the chick in the pic obviously isn't me, she is Mira Aroyo, from Ladytron). Excuse my english, please.
Electropop is by large my favourite music (Yazoo, DM, Erasure, John Foxx, Human League, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Ladytron, Pet Shop Boys, Future Bible Heroes, etc.) and I have a home studio.
I've played in some amateur pop bands, but now I play alone and don't gig. I own a Nord Modular G2, Yamaha 01X, Elektron's Machinedrum and Monomachine desktop, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and a PC with Cubase SX2, Reaktor 4, Absynth 2 and as few plugins as possible. Now I'm saving to add Ableton's Live 4 to my setup. I love the demo of this program, and I think it will change my music making for the better. |

another spanish in this forum.
I'd like to listen to your e-pop songs.
I use Ableton LIve 1.5 since 2 years ago in a Apple Laptop (see the web of the sign) in our project Montevideo and is fantastic and no only for live use.
OK Kraken, Salud compañero . |

Kraken...
Monomachine - cool. I like the looks of it quite a bit. Something new and different. I know one Nord Modular user that moved over to the Monomachine. I'm not sure the two are in the came boat, but still it's an interesting thing to do. You have both - how do they compare, or does it even make sense to compare them at all? |

There is no comparision. G2 wins hands down, drunk, with one broken leg and high heels. Monomachine just gives you six mono tracks, 5 somewhat basic synthesis engines and a sequencer. G2 gives you that, and tons more.
But:
* The sequencer is great, very flexible and fun to use.
* The synth engines are very interesting and easy to use.
* It's lot's of FUN. For me, the fun factor is the most important aspect of a machine, and Monomachine fun-factor is superb. (The same fun factor that sent Reaktor to the corner whren my G2 arrived).
It's too expensive, though, to recommend it if you're not sure about it. Elektron has a "Friend system" to show its products all around the world, if you're interested in playing one first hand. |
