Hello all,

I have recently formed a band with my friends called !0 String Trio, a free-improv band that debuted at an open-mic event. The other two musicians play electric violin and electric upright bass. My role is "sound alchemist". I process the electric violinist through a Nord Micromodular, transforming her sound in realtime via knob tweaks and MIDI. The bassist is considering purchasing a Micromodular of his own so I can also do realtime transformations of his sound. My other instrument with this group is my Emu XL-7, whose role in this trio I am still defining (in today's jam session, I triggered arps - adjusting the tempo and other parameters in realtime so it wasn't too mechanical, yet at the same time far enough away from imitating Jan Hammer or Keith Emerson).

I'll be doing a lot of searching for more Micromodular patches to twist around my bandmates' instrument audio and continuing to explore ways to free-improvise with the XL-7. Our 2nd gig will be on Sept. 5:

Congrats on the new band. Sounds like a lot of fun. The NM Micro seems like a logical signal procesor. Keep us up to date on your gigs and stuff...
