Washing machine sound? Which track... where... who... huh huh?

You wanna make some serious electroacousticalesque sounds? In the style of arty farty electroacoustical music?

Shocked Very Happy

You know, it's that sound of a pine fresh spring breeze bearing the aroma of virgin woodland.

The sad thing is, nearly everyone's conversations here make this much sense to me.

ummm, I also am not sure what’s going on here.

I did do a piece in 1978 for 2xMS20+2xMS50+Hoovermatic twin-tub.
The spin down at the end of the spin cycle was exceptional! Modern machines with the fancy microchip controlled clutches just don't cut it.

Not also night calypso!

Oooooh, the Hovermatic twin-tub. Those were primo in their day. Do you still have one of those in your studio today? Laughing

I never knew a washing machine had as much sex appeal as modular synth. Has anyone converted a Maytag to be a proper exponential VCO? Or tuned the feedback on the resonant (spin) cycle?

Hey, I know David. He's the guy that introduced me to Kyma systems. I was thinking of buying one, but I wanted to see it first. I asked the Kyma people if there was a store or something. The best they could come up with was David Mooney who had one and was willing to show it to me. I drove 465 miles to see the Kyma and David. He put me up overnight. We had a grand time. His wife is an artist too. She does fabric art, tapestries and stuff. Very good indeed.

Whet's CEC?

Hey I did a washing machine once (on NM classic). It's not much like a washing machine, just the right thing I suppose.

bizarre! oh well small world..
well do say hi if you see him
cec is the canadian electroacoustic email list
quite a few bods on it ....
quite interesting
but i couldnt help taking the piss
hence i got the boot...
something about washing machines
and a cec party with spotty geeks awkwardly dancing
but never mind that...
david mooney is top though..
as were several other bods on there..

yes kyma is awesome
i want to get into the pitch tracking a lot...
i wanna start off by modifying the sine wave generating one
to produce a saw or something simple
and then start to tweak that....
that should be a good starting excercise

rah

Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen.
Ocean Waves generates a simulated sound of ocean waves. Unlike the recorded sound of ocean waves on CD's, the simulated sound of ocean waves does not repeat for hours. You can save the simulated sound of ocean waves as an AIFF file (up to 400 minutes), and burn a CD (up to 79.9 minutes with iTunes) or download on your iPod from iTunes. I hope this helps you relax, sleep at night, and wake up in the morning.

it's not exactly a washing machine but......
