Hey, my name is Justin (jksuperstar!),

I'm been a NM funatic for a few years, and finally upgraded to the G2, since I'd like to move to playing more live shows, and I think the G2 is just far better suited for it. Plus I'm really getting into algorythmic sequencing, and that just hit the limit of the NM1. Most of my music is laid back atmospheric vibes. I can't call my self a musician though, since I began (and still am) a drummer Smile I also play Didje, and is one of the main reasons I love the NM...it does wonderful things to my didje Very Happy Some of my other gear includes an Paia FATMAN, Alesis DMPro (why was this dropped, it's sounds great!), MPC1000, Roland TD-7 drums, and Lexi MPX-1. Assorted other stuff for effects & hand drums, but I'm finding myself having alot more fuin with samples at the moment.

Professionally, I'm an ASIC engineer, designing chips for a tape-archival company in boulder, colorado. But, that just pays for the hobbies! Right now, I'm researching Brain states, and connecting them to driving music. Eventually I'd like to expand this to group situations. Denver has a pretty decent art/installation scene growing, and the Nord will be the center of this for me. I also have built a few instruments myself, starting with Paia FATMAN, then moving into my own designs (MIDI controllers, human interfaces, etc). Shout out if your in the area!

No website for anything now, but after I get married this month, I should have some more time for all of this! (planning these things really sucks (in a wonderful way!))

Hi, Justin... welcome

Certainly glad to have you here. We have a lot in common, not just the NM and the G2. I'm a recovering IC designer myself. I used to work at Bell Labs. I was on the design team of the first DSP chips. Then I got into CAD development and finally retired when the company evaporated a couple of years ago.

Hmmm. Your in Colorado and working for a tape archival company - would I be close if I guessed Storage Tek?

I'm also interested in brain states, and have quite a few experiments using the G2. The frequency shifter is a great device for these experiments. Maybe we should start a separate thread to discuss this kind of stuff. I know other members here are into this as well.

You can post mp3s here on the forums, so you don't need a web site to share you music.

Somehow all tape companies are close to StorageTek out here!

But no...I work for Quantum (DLT/SDLT/etc)

Just a guess. It would have been cool to be right, but no big deal to be wrong. I low-risk guess...

We used to design read channel chips for disk drives. Quantum was our customer in those days. I think that's the only part of the original AT&T semiconductor division that is still in business, now called Agere Systems. They got out of DSPs a few years ago. I have friends who still work there. We have lunch once in a while. It's like visiting with the crew of the Titanic. Evil or Very Mad

Wow. Creepy. I used to work on the disk side...using the Hammer & Moray chips from AT&T (I worked in Mass back then). Now we repackaged those Moray's for tape use (multi-channel)...and renamed it Hydra. I forgot AT&T/Lucent/Agere was in Allentown (almost had to go there once or twice) ...Small world!
