Cosmic Coffeehouse (Crosswicks, NJ) Saturday, Sept.11 |
|
|
Calendar Event: September 11, 2004 The Crosswicks Community Association presents the Cosmic Coffeehouse's second season of unique musical gatherings at the Crosswicks Community House. The latest edition of this increasingly-popular event takes place on the evening of Saturday, September 11th, 2004. Presenting his complex guitar and vocal compositions is songwriter Matt Klotz, who's style has been compared to Michael Hedges and Tool. Also appearing is The Red Masque, performing dark prog music with female vocals, in a style that is both modern and medieval.
$5 admission at the door supports the Crosswicks Community Association's upkeep of the Community House. Doors open at 7pm, and the performances start at 8pm. Settle in at a table for coffee, conversation and desserts in a non-smoking environment, and open your eyes and ears to amazing live music by local musicians, enhanced by the Cosmic Coffeehouse's signature light show. No children under 15 years old will be admitted. The Crosswicks Community House is located at 480 Main Street in Crosswicks.
The Cosmic Coffeehouse performance calendar, band links, and photos of previous events are online at www.cosmiccoffeehouse.org. For futher details, and for anyone interested in performing at future events, contact Ken Palmer at 609-298-1877 or at brainstatik@aol.com. _________________ www.brainstatik.com

Be sure to introduce yourself after the show! I've heard alot about your band too! There always seems to be quite a bit of post-show mingling and networking among our musician-dominated audience, which is half the fun of these shows.
BTW, Matt Klotz, tho not a keyboardist, is an amazing guitarist who deserves more notice. Between the odd time signatures, alternate tunings, and precise fretwork, his unusual style fits perfectly into the Cosmic Coffeehouse's "space" as much as any synth player.

A brief step up onto the soapbox... |
|
|
"HELLO???!! Is this thing ON?!!"
I have a small personal plea to all local fence-sitters and complainers-about-lack-of-places-to-play: I hope you'll come and support this series!!!
$5 (HALF the price of last season's admission!) is a VERY small price to pay to hear live music of the sort that is rarely heard ANYWHERE in NJ! Please help these musicians continue to have places to play. You may like some of it; you may even hate some of it; but what if this wonderfully diverse and challenging music couldn't be heard anymore?
(EXIT SOAPBOX MODE)

I'll do my best to get there this time, Ken. Is there by any chance a broadband internet connection there? |

Guitar players in electronic music, represent! I think there will be alot of common ground in what both of us do, judging from the description. I'm there man!

I wish...
What for, pray tell?!!
My gen1 Airport link doesn't extend to the Community House, but if you're willing to bring a spool of cat5 and a roll of duct tape to run across the street from my house...
...or whip up a few of those Pringles can 802.11 antennas?
On second thought, that'd probably violate Comcast's TOS anyway... I've got enough problems to deal with! _________________ www.brainstatik.com

We are working up a streaming server that would among other things permit live internet broadcasts. We haven't got it working yet, but very very close. All we would need to do is on stream up to our server. Would this not be possible with Comcast?
Maybe too soon for this neat event, but somthing for the future. |

We're not exactly sure. We have to run some experiments. |

Comcast streaming |

This would cool to try! When it gets closer to reality, perhaps Comcast would donate the bandwidth/connection, especially since the Crosswicks Community Association is a non-profit organization and support for the local arts would look good for them (and cost them next to nothing, btw). I've been bugging the CCA to look into grant money for just this type of thing too... and having to plug Comcast during the show would be a small price to pay!
Cosmic Coffeehouse alumni Don Slepian does this from his house every Wednesday night with his artmusiccoffeehouse.com net broadcasts, so why couldn't electro-music.com?!
Keep working on making this happen! All of us here would love the exposure!
