Calendar Event: September 11, 2004

Woah, our scene is running tight! Another choice for philly...

The FeedBack Concert Series
Saturday, Sept 11th

Bands:
William Fields
A/D
Moqita

For UCAL’s Open House, FeedBack brings three talented electronic music
acts, ranging from Experimental to Ambient, from IDM to Trip Hop.

Moqita is the work of JG and Billy Blaise (pronounced "Blaze"), two
musicians from Philadelphia and friends for the past 10 years. After
perusing separate and different musical paths the two got together to
see what would happen if they just stepped away from what they were
doing and looked at music again as they did as kids when music just made
them feel good. They became Moqita. What is it like? Well, imagine Stan
Getz jamming with Autechre in the living room at the Miles Davis' house,
while Lou Reed eats cornbread in the kitchen with Lee Perry. Or for the
clerks at the record store: A bit like Zero 7 or happier Massive Attack.

A/D consists of Abe Dolinger, a composer native to the Philadelphia
area. He views the earth as divisible into the categories of analog and
digital, and seeks to bring them together in himself and in his music.

William Fields is a musician, composer, and sound artist from Wilmington, DE. He has been experimenting with electronic music for over 10 years. Inspired by his love of Jazz, currently, he is exploring the possibilities of live performance and improvisation in the realm of electronic / laptop-based music through an interface that he has designed and programmed. This new interface allows him to spontaneous control over a minute and broad aspects of a song.

Doors: Open 7pm.
Cost: $5

About

The FeedBack Concert Series is a new monthly event at the University City Arts League. This series highlights musical artists performing new or seldom heard works.

FeedBack focuses on electronic and experimental music but is open to a wide range of musical styles and talents from classical to folk; from jazz to rock; from blues to pop as well as musically-based performance art pieces. Send us your demo, if we don't hear you we won't get a chance to ask you to perform.

FeedBack is designed to be an interactive event for both the listener and the performer with a short Q&A after each set. The organizers hope to create an intimate atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable to create a conversation that will continue to foster creative thoughts, ideas, and actions for both the audience and artist.
