Hey
ive access to a dataman programmer here in college so ordered a
atmega32 chip to make a 1bit groovebox

http://web.media.mit.edu/~nvawter/projects/1bit/

have programmed PICs before and was no hassle
I see on the above page theres a hex file for the chip
and also a bootloader

Do both of these get loaded onto the chip for this to work?
or is it just used in the programming of the chip?

any info appreciated,
thanks

You should only need to program the hex file. Just glancing at the bootloader, looks like its for loading new firmware over the UART maybe using MIDI.

Nevermind about the MIDI, the baud rate is 57600.
