What is the function of the DirLD? I notice it is a bi-directional indicator. What is it telling me?

I just found this.
(When you post inside the existing FS-1a thread, I'm automatically notified. If you start a new thread, I'm not.)

My Frequency Shifter can shift "thru Zero".
So, when you turn the knobs, or apply modulation voltages such that a shift goes down to zero, and further into the "negative" frequency range, what has been an "up-shifting" output, now becomes a "down-shifting" output, and vice versa. In order to indicate this on the front panel, you have the "Direction LED", abbreviated DirLED on the board connector.
