The peakmeter of the g2's audio out module?

If yes, your problem is in the audio settings of either your interface , you plugged some cables wrongor maybe, you haven't selected the right input in cubase.

If no, and you are talking about your peakmeter in cubase, the problem is your software sequencer's patching/routing of audio (or in a midi track, midi).
Check if the midi signal is going to the right midi port/channel and check the g2's midi led!

"i got sound everywhere, its only cubase when putting the notes no sound but signal.."

This is a very tricky one, you hear a lot so something should be ok with cubase!
But when you put some notes in a midi track in cubase, send them to the g2, and listen to the g2, you have no sound, but maybe you just see the peakmeter in your midi track indicating a midi out signal!?

Solutions:

You could plug some headphones in the g2 and check if it's an audio problem. If it works, check the interface, if that works, check cubase.

If it's midi, send notes to the g2 from a midi track in cubase, patch something simple and see if the notes are coming through. If this doesn't work some of the above might be wrong in your setup.

Shouldn't be a lot of work to solve this, but it is very very hard doing it online with not a lot of information to go with!

Good luck!

So what happens if you use a different synth instead of the G2?

Well, maybe this discussion will go much better if the writing isn't in 'short-hand' anymore. We take the time to read and think about your question, so, please, try to be as exact as you can be...

If you record your synth in CuBase you can hear the notes in Playback, right?

I use CuBase, although a very old version, and there is no command 'Add Key Notes'. I also searched the net (SoundOnSound) and the command isn't found. You don't want to use 'Record' to get your Midi Notes into CuBase, how do you expect to hear these being played as they aren't there? There are many ways to get some notes into CuBase:

1 play it on a keyboard which is connected by Midi and sends MidiNotes, but then you have to record it which you don't want to do;
2 import some existing Midi file from somewhere and
3 write or draw your notes in 'Edit mode'.

There is another way to make the sound which is using the keyboard in the Grid available in Edit mode, but this can't be recorded and you don't want to use the mouse, because you want to tweak the sound on the synth...

At the other hand, Sound Maniac, do you prefer to be helped off forum by somebody who can speak and write Swedish instead of English?

1 - So your computer running Cubase has its MIDI OUT port (possibly provided by an external MIDI interface) connected to the G2 MIDI IN port, right?

2 - I also assume that you have successfully entered some notes in the Cubase piano roll editor.

3 - The level meters in the Cubase tracks containing the MIDI notes shows activity when you play back your sequence.

Provided that all three points above are correct, then I can only see two possibilities (there may of course be something that I'm missing):

1 - the MIDI channel set for the Cubase track with the MIDI notes does not match the MIDI channel that the G2 is receiving on

2 - there is a defect MIDI interface (on either of G2 or the MIDI interface connected to the computer) or a defect cable

To any G2 owners (only got a classic here I'm afraid), is there a MIDI activity light on the G2?

Or just write something in swedish here, if you think you can phrase it better - there are a fair amount of scandinavian members here...

Yes, on my G2X there is, right underneath the Mic Gain knob.

Yeah tell us Stefan, what is it he is trying to do?

I had my money on a midi communication issue.. but judging by the various responses looks like everyone has had their own spin on this "issue". Very Happy

Language barriers sure are fun. Smile

It's just a comment saying that he understands english ok but there's nothing to lose by trying.

I'm guessing there may be another post on the way. Smile

Sound Maniac: if you don't feel like going swedish here it's ok to PM me.

OK, so you see the peak meter in Cubase light up, but you can't hear anything? Do you see the MIDI LED on the G2 hardware light up? If you put an envelope module in a patch and look at it in the editor (with KB set to On), do you see the green gate square light up?

Sound maniac,

if I understand correctly from looking at the screens, you have set up Cubase to use the Fireface MIDI interface. From the wiring diagram I see another USB/MIDI connection between the PC and the G2, whereas I see no connection between the Fireface 400 and the G2. I'd try using the Fireface MIDI breakout cable to connect to the G2 instead of that other MIDI interface - have a look at the green connections in the modified diagram below. Alternatively you could set up Cubase to use that other MIDI interface which is already connected (I'd go for the Fireface one, though).

Another thing, in the MIDI track info the channel is set to "any". In Cubase, that means that the MIDI data gets sent on the channel that it was recorded from. You might want to set that to e.g. channel 1, and then set the G2 to channel 1 too, just so that you have explicit control over the MIDI channel usage.
