just wanted to connect with other PA electronic/experimental musicians. i'm starting to become familiar w/ the philly area, but i live in the lehigh valley, so i'm especially interested in venues/people associated with this scene. i'd like to get some sort of solidarity going, buddy up on shows, put music events on, exchange ideas for new venues, etc. just basically make it easier for us to play out. Our proximity to NYC and Philly make this an ideal location to get a solid network going and to evolve!

comments? suggestions? thank you!

Well, there are a few of us in the Lehigh Valley who are members of the forum. Hopefully a bunch will show up to catch your performance coming up. We'd love to have shows and events here. It's a great location, like you say, essentially half way between Philadelphia and New York, more or less. .

It's a good idea to start this topic. Thanks...

I'm about one hour away.
Always interested to meet other like-minded folks.
Finding places to play has been the challenge.

Crosswicks is only every other month, and not during the summer.
Ken Palmer from Brainstatik runs that, he's a member here.
There's very little happening in NJ. Don Slepian does a live internet radio show from Lebanon. Ministry of Inside Things has played a few times in South Jersey.

There has got to be more people than just us experimenting with electronics in the PA/LV area...The trick is finding them and creating a network. I suggest directing people here as a hub of some sort...as for potential venues, i suggest searching any place that will have us.

Yes, I know lots of people in this area making electronic music.
But none of them seems to have much luck finding places to play (other than the few we know about in Philadelphia).
Or maybe they are too busy to seriously search.
I agree about pooling our resources, a concerted effort might help.
That's why I formed the pandemonium symposium. It's been dormant for a while, because of personal issues on my end, but it's time to activate again.
Anyone in the NJ-PA area can join, if they are active in electronic music (performing, recording, or just jamming).
I will post some updated info soon, but here is the web site:

Thanks guys, for the info/ideas. There may be one or two more new places to set-up shows in Allentown. As for Philly, I've been having the same conversation w/ electronic musicians down there. I think btw these two areas we can gather enough people together for a good festival type show(s).

Let's keep brainstorming and keep a dialog going on this.

Great! I'm happy that you're going to revive the northern NJ arm of this loose alliance of musicians! After all, you're the one that planted the seed in my mind for the Cosmic Coffeehouse, so let's get some more electro-music-friendly venues going in this state!!! Hooray for resource pooling!

Everyone: flee your studios and go play live NOW! Wink

Hi fellow Pennsylvanians my name is Mike and I live in York county near Codorus state park. The fishing is good but the Electronic music scene is all but non-existent. Glad to see there is a forum for us here. Just stopped by to say hi and ecknowlege my existance.

Welcome Mike! Don't know if this helps, but a new punk/diy venue opened in York, PA...

They seem to be interested in booking fringe artists and locals. Hit them up if you play out or plan to.

Does western PA count? VERY little going on out here. Pittsburgh has a few electronic shows. They are not very well attended, sadly enough.

My father takes residence in Washington, PA so western PA counts for me as I visit it several times a year from anywhere to a week or a month.

Country music is a staple around washington and everyone gives you a funny look if you're playing non-pop electronic. They also give you a funny look if you call carbonated fountain drinks "soda".

What kind of electronic shows have been in Pitt (style wise)? I have only ever seen a couple jazz shows out there.

btw, are you located near Moon or Mars?

I'm located near Clarion. The shows I've seen in Pittsburgh have been just tiny shows with a guy with a power book and guitar effects. Tiny.
