Aha, BP1 means Break Point 1 ! That kinda threw me off, thinking - why does he have like 24 band pass filters
But now I get it!
Looks great! |

there is one thing i am still not sure about. it is the wiring of the shapers gain potentiometers: as i understand it now for each shaper the summed vowel CVs are fed into the negative input of an OpAmp, whereas the positive input is fed by the vowel CVs that went through a potentiometer. The Opamp will compare and cancel out the original CVs!? the output of the OpAmp is mixed with the shaped CV anyways, so how could this influence the gain of the shaper?
i am still not sure, just because i don't understand it, and i don't see the connection from the pot to the vowel CVs for two of the gain potentiometers. _________________

Vowel Out, pin15 of JP5 connects to all 3 Master Gain pots, although only one connection is shown.
are these the 2 gain pots you are unsure of? |

you are right, the gain pots are dividing the CV signal and feeding it to the inv inputs.
Originally I had assumed they were differential amp stages with adjustable gain, but now after your question and a closer look, not so sure
Maybe it is worth setting one of these stages up in Pspice or on a breadboard to see how it works.
Or contact Jim, for the definitive answer. |

so you like it? i hope it is worth the effort. would it be insolent to ask you for some sound samples?
i found a little company that will print on a front panel i send them. i ordered the cabinet and will then send them the panel to print my graphics on (one color/black). it will cost less than a schaeffer panel, i will have to do all the drilling, though.

if you wonder about the CV/potentiometer combination on the break points: i plan to wire the jacks normalled to the +10V reference. this way i could use the pot as manual control with no CV plugged in. as soon as the CV in socket is used, the pot would work as attenuator... _________________

If you ever decide you don't want to store it anymore, drop me a PM. I'll still build one though... more vocal sounds! |

the frontpanel arrived today. the result is amazing, IMHO at least. actually i am a littlebit overwhelmed and i must show it to you, even though i still have to drill the holes. Without the holes it ahs been less than a schaeffer panel. i will ahve to contact the company about the drilling (what do they need, how does it fit with the print (offset tolerances).
a little bit blurry, sorry:

Very nice fonik !
Now the trick is to drill it without damaging the print. |

the "printing" is actually black anodized. i drilled black anodized panels before without any issues!?
do you have some experiences with this kind of print and drilling? what should i be aware of? i wanted to start tomorrow... _________________
